Alexander von Schlippenbach - Helferei, Zürich - 5 November 2019

Alexander von Schlippenbach

After two days of recording his new solo album - slow pieces for Aki, complying with a wish of his wife Aki Takase, who asked why things always have to be so fast and wild with him -, the 81-year-old Berlin free jazz legend played a gorgeous one-hour solo set at Helferei in the middle of Zurich's old town. The concert was organized by Intakt Records (which will publish the upcomding solo recording as well, of course), and there was a talk for Intakt subscribers afterwards. Where did he take the force to make all that music? Well, obviously there is a kind of "inner urge", something that needs to be expressed ... but also, as some british rock musician once said, fitting with Schlippenbach's own perspective: fresh air and good dope!
